SCIVIAS is an album made by a hologram of a woman praying the rosary.
It is the culmination of a year’s worth of effort on the part of Andrew Salyer
and is his attempt to express a statement of spirituality that is equal parts
uncomfortable to admit and impossible to disregard – it is a text message between
two dear, drunk friends discussing the existence of God by way of sloppily hammering
away on the keyboard of a T-Mobile Sidekick. More electric than electronic, SCIVIAS
soaks itself in tones reminiscient of MACHINA-era Pumpkins and Fragile-era NIN while
also very obviously coming from the mind of a person who spent his formative years
listening to Do Make Say Think in cars with barely functioning heat and unironically
loving Oasis’ “Be Here Now”. Like M83 with the shakes, or a 96kbps recording of a high mass.
