This allows you to design your artwork in-browser without the use for an expensive graphic design suite, or simply drag ‘n drop your pre-existing artwork into the Online Designer. After checkout your artwork is automatically sent to the printer queue, with zero hassle in between! Not only does this mean your J-cards will be printed, scored, and shipped quicker, but it also saves pre-press time on our end. Using the online designer is remarkably simple, you can review the guide we wrote up a couple of weeks ago. Just remember to extended the artwork past the template lines, and to double-check your work as to ensure your artwork appears as intended! You will need to approve your artwork once more after checkout, which serves as a final opportunity for a quick inspection.

Looking to add some texture and style to your full-colour printed J-cards? We’ve added a new option to your cassette duplication orders that are sure to dazzle your fans: 100lb linen cover J-cards!

The difference in texture between these linen J-cards and our regular J-cards is immediately recognizable. Linen J-cards look and feel like an aged piece of art, appearing like dried paint on a canvas, while their uncoated finishing leaves them textured to the touch. Our linen J-cards are printed on “Solar White” cardstock. These have a brightness of 97% (read: blindingly bright) which makes all CMYK colours pop right off the page. They’re thicker than regular J-card stock, a whopping 11pt thickness as opposed to 7.5pt. We can print JP0s and JP1s using the linen stock.

Country of Origin labels for cassettes, CDs, vinyl, and print

If you are an American artist or label ordering media from Duplication.ca, you need to know about Country of Origin regulations! It can save you a lot of time, stress, and even money.

In short, manufactured media and print exported to the United States need to have the Country of Origin clearly marked on the packaging. This covers cassettes, CDs, vinyl, books, and more. Duplication.ca is a Canadian manufacturer, thus we highly recommend that “Manufactured in Canada” or “Made in Canada” appear on the artwork.

Noise Drone Repeat - Made in Canada

Typically this is placed on the back of the package, but it can be anywhere on the case as long as it’s visible from the outside. Please note that the Country of Origin has to appear on each individual unit, not the shipping container or box.

The country of origin is required not only when we ship to you, it is also required when you ship to distributors, and especially if you try to cross a border with the product in your vehicle. If you don’t put the country of origin, your product could be stopped at the border and you would be responsible for all transport and labelling expenses to apply labels to the product.

One could make the argument with American customs that an order of 25 cassettes is not for resale. However, if you’re ordering hundreds of CDs or vinyl, we strongly urge you to add “Made in Canada” to the artwork. These are not shipping fees you will want to pay for twice.

We also offer “Manufactured in Canada” stickers to place on the cases.

The United Kingdom does not require a Country of Origin, but some countries other than the United States may. We recommend you do your research if you are ordering from overseas, and see what your country of residence requires when importing media and printed goods.

With so many jammers on high-rotation at the production facilities and Toronto’s Dupe Shop, to pick an absolute favourite of the thousands of cassettes we’ve duplicated in the past 12 months is an impossibility. It takes you for an immediate ride into a fictional RPG bringing in inspiration from Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana, fleshing out castles, valleys and skies with styles of Progressive rock, synthwave and Ambience compositions. Robert Glasper delivers on his unique style of jazz and hip hop fusion, exactly what you’d expect after his work on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly.

Cassette Round-Up: May 2019

Every day when we walk into the Duplication.ca offices we’re greeted with a pile of awesome cassette releases waiting to be mastered and duplicated. This May we still found ourselves in a transitional stage between a never-ending gloomy winter and burgeoning hot summer. A double cassette release featuring an incredible line-up of ambient-electronic composers (Ian William Craig, Norm Chambers, Connect_icut, Alexandra Spence, to name a few) interpreting the works of de stijl artist Piet Mondrian. Packaged in our awesome side-by-side double cassette boxes.

Kool G Rap & 38 Spesh – “Son of G Rap” c56

38 Spesh and Kool G are looking to bridge generations of New York rap bringing out certified OGs from N.O.R.E. to Dipset-affiliate Vado. NYC hip hop is alive and well on this album. Limited edition tapes came with gold horizontal obi-strip.

Benjamin Hinz – “DEEP” c22

If you like your psychedelic rock brooding and slow, like it’s struggling breathe under the pressure of the ocean’s weight, then check out this 22 minute ripper. Housed in our customizable printed Maltese Cross cassette boxes.

C. Reider – “…a trustable cloud” c54

Composed entirely out of free sound banks, instruments, and effects processing available in web browsers. It’s an outsider electronic trip, with the J-card artwork suggesting that this is the soundtrack to a Google Deep Dream.

Mixing elements of industrial, power electronics, and even acid house, “Come, Deathless” is richly textured and may scare you half to death. Sounds like Autechre woke up in a miserable mood.
